What is IMI?
The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) is a professional association for individuals working in the motor industry. Founded in 1920, the IMI was created to establish new skills and knowledge benchmarks for the emerging and rapidly evolving automotive industry.

IMI’s purpose is to provide, and continuously evolve, the means by which individuals working in the automotive sector can attain relevant professional competence and appropriate recognition.

How the IMI champions the Automotive Industry

They develop skills benchmarks and qualifications relevant to the automotive industry, delivered through approved IMI Centres.
They assess and accredit the competence of individuals working in the industry, across technical, customer-facing and management roles.
They run an international membership community of automotive professionals.
They campaign and build public confidence in the sector. The IMI aims to effect positive change in issues such as electrification, safety and consumer satisfaction.
What this means to you as our customer

Our team is made up of highly trained IMI accredited technicians, individuals who have been tested against stringent standards developed by the only professional body for the whole automotive sector.

The IMI is authorised to assess and accredit individuals and a range of professional activities and services. The same way law, architecture or any other profession requires a process of assessment, IMI accreditation provides assurance to you, and the wider marketplace, that our services meets the industry's high, expected standards.

With the increasing complexity and sophistication of vehicles today, it begs the question,
can you really accept anything less?
